So your child is due to start at Pensby High School or it’s just the start of another year. Either way, it’s that stressful time, it’s time to buy your school uniform. Uniform information

The school is extremely clear on what they want their pupils to wear. It’s important to adhere to these policies to avoid unnecessary expenditure, and to make sure your children do not lose any school time or face any disciplinary action for being incorrectly dressed. We’ve broken it down nice and easy for you.

Students should wear full school uniform to and from school and for all school trips and parents’ evenings, unless otherwise informed.

All uniform must be clearly marked with the owner’s name, including outdoor coats, which must be proper outdoor coats with no logos and NOT hooded sweatshirts. Hoodies must not be worn under blazers.

The school’s uniform is not gender neutral, however, the school is happy for any student to make a choice as to which uniform they wear, as long as this is a long-term view.

Uniform

All pupils

All pupils must have the following items.

  • White shirt, long or short sleeved, to be tucked into skirt/trousers with top button fastened
  • Tie, worn to the collar and long enough to reach the waistband
  • Black blazer with embroidered logo, to be worn at all times
  • Black V-neck sweater (optional), plain, no logos or names
  • Black smart business trousers (not skinny)
  • Black knee length skirt, box pleat or pencil (not stretch)
  • Black dress shoes: no trainers, Converse, canvas shoes or obviously branded items
  • Black socks/tights
  • No hoodies or hats allowed

Boys uniform

Boys

Here is a list of what’s required for boys uniform.

  • White school shirt
  • Tie
  • Blazer
  • Pullover
  • Black trousers
  • Socks: black

Girls uniform

Girls

Here is a list of what’s required for girls.

  • White school blouse
  • Black box pleat or pencil skirt
  • Tights: black, or socks

PE kit

Compulsory
  • Navy/pale blue sports shirt
  • Navy/pale blue shorts or skorts
  • Navy/pale blue socks
  • Training shoes: no leisure boots or high fashion trainers
  • Football boots (not an expensive type)
  • Gum shield
  • Shin pads

PE kit

Optional
  • Navy blue tracksuit bottoms
  • Navy/pale blue sweatshirt
  • Navy/pale blue waterproof top
  • Sports bag

Please label everything

Coats & costs

Coats

A coat should be worn as appropriate. Short ‘fashion’ type coats, denim jackets, tracksuit tops (with or without hoods), jogging style tops with or without logos and leather/suede coats are not appropriate. Expensive coats should not be worn to school; the school is not responsible for coats and will not replace them if lost. Top coats are normally carried round in bags as there is no cloakroom provision.

Statutory guidance on cost

All items can be bought from generic suppliers except the blazer, tie and PE shirt/shorts. Whilst there are additional items which can be purchased, these are optional.
